The risk of forest fires

With over fifteen million hectares of woodland, France is regularly affected by forest fires, particularly in the Mediterranean region, Corsica and the Landes. In light of this, the government is pursuing an active prevention policy centred on firefighting, forest management and the management of the areas between forests and residential areas (forest-settlement interfaces), as well as providing information to the public and forest users.
