LATEST NEWS. A police officer from the Public Security unit at Béziers police station was injured on Wednesday shortly after 11 pm in the underground car park of a residential block in the Cité de la Devèze estate in Béziers.

According to our information, in circumstances that remain unclear, the police officer, who was on duty alongside other officers, was deliberately trapped between two vehicles by one or more individuals in a car; as of 11.35 pm, it is not known whether they have been arrested. Suffering from injuries to his legs and pelvis, he was conscious when the emergency services – firefighters from SDIS 34 and a doctor from SMUR 34 – treated him at the scene, before he was taken to the hospital’s A&E department.

At 11.45 pm, his injuries were described as minor by an official source contacted by Metro. It is not known whether he is a member of the emergency response unit or the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC).

Police reinforcements are at the scene, along with the chief superintendent and the duty investigators from the Hérault Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP 34) to conduct the investigation, which is being supervised by the Public Prosecutor of Béziers. The Montpellier Regional Judicial Police Service (SRPJ) is expected to take over the further investigation into this attempted murder.
