Speaking in Chartres on Monday, François Hollande called on his successor to continue the recruitment drive carried out during his five-year term.
Now in the final stretch of his five-year term, François Hollande is keen to avoid any new outbreaks of “anti-police sentiment”, such as the spontaneous demonstrations that took place last autumn. On Monday, in Chartres, the Head of State therefore very meticulously reviewed the progress of the €250 million equipment programme and announced the first measures resulting from the consultations initiated by the prefects with the gendarmes and police officers in their departments since last December.
