Putting a stop to cuts in resources and staffing levels, improving career prospects for SDIS staff, and ensuring adequate resources for rescue operations… These are the main demands of a fire service inter-union group, which is calling for a demonstration on 14 March.
Seven fire service trade union organisations (CFDT, CGT, CFE-CGC-AS, FA/SPP-PATS, CFTC-SPASDIS, SUD, UNSA-SDIS) are calling for a national protest by the profession on 14 March. Only the SNSPP-PATS-FO, which nevertheless states that it supports the majority of the demands, prefers to join the cross-public-sector demonstration on 7 March (see box below).
In a joint statement, the trade unions state that they have “built, since 12 December 2016, a united front in the sole interest of staff, both SPP and PATS”. They state that, during a series of meetings, they have been working on “the necessary and essential review of departmental policies”.
