According to information revealed exclusively by our colleagues at the Metro, a gendarmerie warrant officer posted to a brigade attached to the Castelnau-le-Lez company, near Montpellier, who is suspected of fraud, forgery and the use of forged documents, has been suspended from duty.
On the basis of evidence from an investigation entrusted to officers of the Montpellier Criminal Investigation Section, conducted under the supervision of an investigating judge at that city’s High Court, following the recent opening of a judicial inquiry by the Public Prosecutor, Christophe Barret, this soldier, who was heavily in debt, is alleged to have committed forgery in order to take out bank loans, using the names of individuals held in police custody at the brigade where he works, whose documents – notably their identity documents – had been seized and retained as part of the ongoing proceedings.
This gendarmerie adjutant is said to have implicated another gendarme and a volunteer assistant gendarme, both serving in the same unit, as his accomplices. These two ‘colleagues’ are said to have vehemently denied the allegations. Investigations are continuing in earnest to shed light on this case, which is embarrassing for the gendarmerie.
