Eure: Gusts arrive at Base 105

Since last week, two Rafale jets from the Operational Standby Unit have arrived at Évreux Air Base 105. In the event of an alert from the National Air Operations Centre, a fighter jet must take off within seven minutes. The National Air Operations Centre is based in Lyon and coordinates the control centres. Aircraft from the Operational Standby Unit assist aircraft in distress and escort aircraft that may pose a threat until they have left French airspace. For this type of mission, the aircraft are armed with four air-to-air missiles with a range of several tens of kilometres. At present, the Rafale fighters are not stationed at Évreux on a daily basis. However, from 2019 or 2020, two to three fighter jets will be permanently stationed at the air base.
