State of emergency extended until 14 July
SAFETY. During his visit to Hyères, in the Var, on Thursday morning, the President of the Republic, François Hollande, stated that the state of emergency will remain in place until 14 July, due to the ongoing terrorist threat. “There will be enough events between now and then to keep us on our guard. It’s not a question of whether or not the conditions are right,” he told our colleagues at Provence.
By this summer, François Hollande will have stepped down from office. It will be his successor, elected next April, who will decide whether or not to extend the state of emergency beyond 14 July.
