Manche: Civil defence exercise near a nuclear power station
On Tuesday 14 March, from 8.30 am until 4.30 pm, a national civil protection exercise took place in the vicinity of the Flamanville nuclear power station.
The various emergency services responded in accordance with the specific response plan and the internal emergency plan.
The Prefect, who was in charge of rescue operations, promptly ordered the evacuation of the population within a ten-kilometre radius and ordered the closure of all roads within that perimeter.
More than 300 gendarmes, firefighters, first-aiders from accredited civil protection associations and EDF staff from the power station were mobilised for the exercise.
