A shooting broke out on Saturday morning in the South Terminal at Orly. A man attempted to seize a soldier’s weapon, whereupon the soldier opened fire, according to a report from our colleagues at BFMTV.

At 8.30 this morning, a man was shot dead by soldiers from the Sentinel Force, part of the Air Force, after he attempted to seize a soldier’s weapon.

The airport has been evacuated, involving some 3,000 people, and a RAID operation is currently underway.

Flights departing from Orly have been suspended, and those due to land at Orly are being diverted to Roissy-Charles de Gaulle.

According to Bruno le Roux, the Minister of the Interior, it would appear that this attack is linked to this morning’s shooting in Stains (93); the case has been referred to the anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office.

At 1.00 pm, the mine-clearing operation was completed; there were no casualties or injuries. However, Orly South remains closed, whilst Orly West has reopened.

As for the member of the armed forces who was attacked, it was, to be precise, a female soldier who was taken into the care of a crew from the Paris Fire Brigade.
