The winner of the 116th Lépine Competition is a professional firefighter with the Bouches-du-Rhône Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS).
His invention is a locator and emergency signalling beacon designed to facilitate the work of the emergency services during a fire or a rescue operation.
This beacon emits flashes of light visible from 10 km away and alerts the emergency services, providing as much medical information as possible about the victim.
“All emergency and rescue services face location-related problems, and the aim was to optimise time, which is a crucial factor in saving a life,” explains its inventor (Mr Defromont)
