This new one-and-a-half-hour programme shines a spotlight on those who work tirelessly, day in, day out, to ensure the safety of residents and the ever-increasing numbers of tourists.
Located in Occitanie, the Pyrénées-Orientales attract large numbers of tourists every summer who come to enjoy its magnificent landscapes, nestled between the sea and the mountains. But for the firefighters of SDIS 66, this is a critical time. On the coast, seaside resorts are fully booked and emergencies are coming thick and fast.
But what firefighters fear most of all is the risk of wildfires. When temperatures rise, the mountain ranges in the hinterland can go up in flames in record time. And in their relentless battle against the flames, firefighters face a formidable foe: the tramontane, a fierce wind that makes their work considerably more difficult.
