PORTUGAL. According to our sources, a Canadair aircraft crashed on Tuesday in central Portugal whilst fighting fires in the Pedrogao Grande area, which has been affected by a massive forest fire since Saturday, a civil protection spokesperson told AFP.
He was unable to specify the aircraft’s nationality. Eleven fire-fighting aircraft, including Canadair aircraft, have been dispatched since Sunday by Spain (six), France (three) and Italy (two).
