On Sunday 27 August, during a forest fire in Callias in the Gard department, two water-bombing aircraft (Civil Protection ‘Canadairs’) carried out water-skimming operations in the port of Vallabrègues.
The first pelican narrowly missed the mast of a barge, whilst the second bird struck the mast with its left wing. The mast snapped and fell onto the boat, causing no casualties.Video: A Canadair aircraft collides with the mast of a barge
