Bizanet (11)

A major fire has been reported near the village of Bizanet (11), situated in the Aude department, in a pine forest in the Corbières massif. Several ground and aerial resources are currently being deployed to combat the rapid spread of the flames. The A61 motorway has just been closed to traffic in both directions. For your safety, please avoid the area.   EDIT 7.15 pm : 6 groups, 3 Trackers, 6 Canadairs and 2 Dash aircraft in the area. EDIT 8.45 pm : The A61 is once again closed in both directions; the fire has spread to the other side. EDIT 9.20 pm : 1 GIFF from SDIS 34 as backup EDIT 21:55: Both carriageways of the A61 have reopened, and a second GIFF from SDIS 34 is on its way. UPDATE 10.20 pm: The fire is still spreading; a GIFF from SDIS 66 is en route. UPDATE 7.00 am: The fire has now been brought under control; a total of 260 firefighters were deployed and 85 hectares have been burnt.
