Bouches-du-Rhône: a couple arrested after a rocket launcher was found in their car

A couple in their twenties were arrested on Tuesday at midday in Port-de-Bouc, near Istres (Bouches-du-Rhône). They were travelling in a vehicle in which a loaded rocket launcher, a Kalashnikov and ammunition were found.

He would not fit the profile of a jihadist

According to our colleagues at Provence, the 25-year-old man is reportedly known for committing common law offences and "At this stage of the investigation, he does not appear to fit the profile of a jihadist, but rather that of a youth from the housing estates." The young man, who is also known for acts of violence against his partner, was arrested whilst in her company during a routine roadside check. According to AFP, "He wasn't supposed to be in contact with her" and an investigation has been launched and handed over to the Marseille criminal investigation department.
