Oise: two firefighters assaulted whilst on duty
On Thursday afternoon, the Crépy-en-Valois fire brigade were called out to a medical emergency at the railway station.
On arrival at the scene, they helped the man into the emergency and victim assistance vehicle.
However, once inside the ambulance, the victim bit the incident commander and punched another firefighter twice. The police arrived as backup; they had to handcuff the man and then escorted the firefighters to the hospital.
The assailant tested positive for drugs.
The departmental director of the Oise Fire and Rescue Service reacted on the SDIS 60 Facebook page:
“Once again, it is unacceptable to attack those who, day and night, are dedicated to rescuing people and property. I express my full solidarity and complete support for the department’s firefighters, and in this instance those from Crépy-en-Valois following today’s attack, whilst reiterating that they demonstrate great professionalism on a daily basis and in all circumstances.”
