On Saturday evening, at around 8.30 pm, the Maubeuge fire brigade were violently attacked. The firefighters had been called out to a rescue operation, but when they entered the victim’s home, several individuals climbed into the cab of the emergency and victim assistance vehicle. The firefighters came out when they heard the two-tone siren; it was at that moment that they were pelted with stones. Faced with this situation, the firefighters took refuge in the victim’s home and had to inform their operations centre. The police arrived quickly, but the offenders had already fled. A second emergency and victim support vehicle had to be called in to transport the victim. None of the three firefighters were injured, but the damaged vehicle is currently out of service.
