A female firefighter from the La Loupe fire station (28) was violently attacked whilst she was, in her uniform, delivering calendars in the town of Fontaine-Simon.
According to our colleagues at L'Écho Républicain, the incident dates back to 10 December last year. On that day, at around 5 pm, a female volunteer firefighter from the La Loupe fire station was attacked whilst on a calendar distribution round – which she was carrying out alone – in the town of Fontaine-Simon.
Commander Pascal Prévost, head of the western regional group of the Eure-et-Loir Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS), explains: “A motorcyclist wearing a helmet and with his face concealed by a scarf pulled up alongside him and struck him violently on the head with an object that resembled a stick studded with spikes.”
Two complaints
The woman is reported to have lost consciousness. Having sustained injuries, she was taken by her colleagues to Nogent-le-Rotrou Hospital, which she was able to leave after receiving treatment and undergoing various tests. The money she had collected from the sale of the calendars was stolen: “A paltry sum of barely €50,” the commander told our colleagues at L’Écho Républicain.
Two complaints have been lodged with the Nogent-le-Rotrou gendarmerie. One was made by the victim and the other by the Firefighters’ Association.
“Whilst there has been a rise, at national level, in attacks on firefighters whilst on duty, we are not used to this sort of attack at departmental level – particularly in rural areas – which took place outside the context of an emergency call-out and in which the victim was a woman wearing her uniform,” emphasises Commander Prévost.
