Civil Protection: towards the pooling of resources across departments?

The end of the year is a favourite time for leading national figures to get a message across. On Tuesday, Paul Francheterre, president of the National Civil Protection Federation (FNPC), extended his best wishes to the some 32,000 volunteers serving across the country.

In his letter, written from the Civil Protection headquarters in Asnières-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine), the president looks back on 2017 and the various events to which he was invited, whether at the Élysée Palace, the Ministry of the Interior or the Directorate-General for Civil Security and Crisis Management.

New regional organisations

“For many years, administrators have wanted to pool resources to form, in a sense, ‘a regional civil protection force’, but it remained nothing more than rumours,” a former operations manager told our editorial team. For the first time, this reorganisation is being taken seriously, to the extent that the president of the FNPC has included it in his New Year’s message for the coming year.

"A new year is a time to make resolutions. One such resolution is the continued development of Civil Protection and the expansion of its reach.
