During the night of 27–28 December, a 28-year-old firefighter based at the Vannes fire station was violently kicked in the eye whilst attending to a woman in a fragile psychological state. The incident took place in a residential property, following an argument between a couple.
The firefighter, who suffered an eye injury, was treated by a doctor who certified him as unfit for work for three days, according to information from our colleagues at Ouest France. A complaint is expected to be lodged by the Morbihan Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS 56). According to the same source, it was whilst the two firefighters were carrying the woman to the ambulance that she delivered a violent kick to the eye of the 28-year-old firefighter and spat at the other paramedic.
