The court sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment without parole. This is his seventh criminal conviction.
Rennes: three months’ imprisonment for pointing a weapon at the police
On Tuesday 16 January, at around 6 am, a man pointed a gun at police officers in the centre of Rennes.
A police patrol was called to the scene following reports of a man armed with a replica assault rifle on a public thoroughfare.
As soon as they arrived at the scene, the police officers instructed passers-by to take cover.
The man then threatened the officers by pointing his weapon at them and simulating several shots.
He eventually dropped his weapon without causing any injuries and was then taken into police custody.
Appearing in court for an immediate hearing, he pleaded guilty and explained that he had found the weapon in a bin; he was drunk at the time of the incident.
