Gers: the NoVi ORSEC plan has been activated following an accident involving a school coach

At 12.48 pm on Thursday, the emergency services were called to a road accident involving a school coach and a car on the N524 near MANCIET (32).

There were 45 secondary school pupils and 5 adults (including the driver) on the coach at the time of the accident; the driver of the car was alone in his car.

Around 100 firefighters, 40 gendarmes and several teams (ground-based and airlifted) from the SAMU were mobilised in accordance with the ORSEC (Civil Security Response Organisation) plan, Annex NoVi (Multiple Casualties), which was activated by the Prefect of the Gers. According to the provisional report published by the Prefecture at 4.30 pm, 27 people have been injured, four of whom are in critical condition. One victim was airlifted by the SAMU 31 helicopter. The Prefect is on her way to the scene. A psychological support team has been set up for the secondary school pupils and the victims’ families.
