A professional ID card for firefighters

Prefect Witkowski, Director-General for Civil Protection and Crisis Management, has announced that firefighters will soon be issued with a professional ID card in the same format as that used by the police. This card will ensure that firefighters can be identified, gain access to the Home Office’s secure systems, and obtain secure access to premises, amongst other things. Administrative and technical staff, as well as members of approved civil protection associations, are also covered by this measure. The cards are expected to start being issued in September, with firefighters from SDIS 78 being the first to receive them.
