Corsica: a forest fire breaks out in Sollacaro (2A)

The fire broke out below the village of Sollacaro shortly before 5 pm. According to preliminary figures, 1.5 hectares of scrubland and chestnut trees were engulfed by the flames, the South Corsica Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS 2A) reported.

The SDIS 2A stated that a light breeze was hampering the firefighters’ efforts. Three fire engines were dispatched to the scene, along with a command vehicle. This operation was due to continue throughout the evening.

No homes were at risk in the early evening.
