Firefighters in the Grand-Est region are practising forest fires. A week after the first major fire of the year in the Landes region, firefighters are preparing to lend a hand to their colleagues in the south of France, according to our colleagues at France 3. It must be said that the summer season is fast approaching.

Currently undergoing training in the Haut-Doubs region, professional and volunteer firefighters are learning how to guard against dehydration and falls – two of the main dangers they will face next summer during operations that may require them to work continuously for up to 48 hours.

Firefighters in the Grand-Est region already have the same equipment as their colleagues in the South. For the past three years, the former have been arriving on the scene earlier and earlier to prevent fires from breaking out, though this will not prevent them from coming to their aid again later in the season, should the need arise.
