The Paris emergency services were called out on Monday afternoon at around 4.30 pm near the Élysée Palace in Paris, after a motorist refused to comply with orders from police officers who are constantly patrolling the area and drove his vehicle onto the pavement, according to our colleagues at Le Point.
According to the same source, whilst fleeing, the 54-year-old reckless driver struck a CRS 9 officer who was on duty and ended his journey by crashing through the shop window of a business before being arrested. The police officer has suffered several fractures to his legs.
The Metropolitan Police, contacted by our editorial team, confirmed the reports from our colleagues. The reasons for this apparent refusal to comply remained unknown on Monday evening. According to the police, the man is known to the police in a very negative light and was the subject of a ‘J’ file, meaning that he had failed to comply with a court order issued against him. In 2004, he had been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
