NEWS IN BRIEF. A 33-year-old man was struck by lightning on Sunday afternoon whilst taking part in a leisure activity near the Montpins estate, in the town of Espira-de-l'Agly, in the Pyrénées-Orientales.
Alerted by relatives, the emergency services dispatched significant resources to the scene. Despite numerous attempts to resuscitate him, the man died last night at Perpignan Hospital, the gendarmerie confirmed on Monday morning.
