Challenge: 120 firefighters climb a rope for a good cause
120 firefighters from across France competed against each other on Saturday in Clermont-Ferrand, during a competition organised by the Clermont-Ferrand metropolitan area firefighters’ sports association, according to our colleagues at the Mountain. A story.
A 20-metre rope is attached to the end of a crane’s jib. Participants must climb it using only their arm strength. The aim is to climb as high as possible in the shortest possible time.
It is an exercise that some firefighters practise throughout the year to improve their effectiveness during call-outs. But here, the speed at which it is performed really puts the muscles under strain and gets the heart racing.
Two firefighters from Monaco have travelled specially to Clermont-Ferrand to compete against their colleagues.
