Marseille: Saint-Charles station evacuated, one suspect arrested

According to information from our colleagues at Provence, in the early afternoon, a soldier from Operation Sentinelle raised the alarm after spotting a man carrying a bag in which wires and batteries, amongst other items, could be seen. This individual, who is refusing to give his identity, has been detained. He insists that the contents are not explosives. The bomb disposal unit has nevertheless been called in to check the contents of the bag, and the station is therefore being evacuated. In the police car taking the man to the police station, he shouted “I am not Charlie” several times, according to RTL. The man has no identification and stated that he was first Chechen and then Russian. Several metro stations have consequently been closed.
