National Police: TV adverts to recruit new officers

Last Tuesday, the police launched a series of television adverts to promote their special recruitment drive. Last year, 400 posts remained unfilled because candidates were not deemed to meet the required standards. The majority of these posts are for constables – the foundation of the police hierarchy – but also for security assistants (public-sector contract staff) and administrative staff. They will be ready for duty in autumn 2019, upon completion of their one-year training course at police college. The short promotional film, which has been airing since Tuesday, aims to illustrate, in a single camera movement, the diversity of police roles – from responding to a domestic dispute to forensic and scientific police work – using a visual style reminiscent of the polished imagery associated with the armed forces.
