The Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Crisis Management (DGSCGC), in particular through Colonel Éric Grohin and the commander’s Olivier Galichet, announced on Friday morning, during the second day of the CTA-CODIS event, his intention to see the AML (Advanced Mobile Location) system rolled out across France.
Developed jointly by the Morbihan and Var fire services, this system sends a link to the caller’s mobile phone. Once received, the user simply needs to click on it to open a web page which automatically triggers the phone’s geolocation, very often to within a metre and in a matter of seconds.
An app that’s constantly evolving
In addition, the DGSCGC will be purchasing servers to secure the application’s infrastructure Geoloc 18-112. They will be hosted by the fire and rescue services (SDIS) of departments 83 and 28.
This app has also recently made it possible to send photos to the operator with ease. A feature that may seem like a mere gimmick, but which is crucial for assessing the nature of the incident and deploying the most appropriate resources.
