All vehicles belonging to the Haute-Marne Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) are to be fitted with a GPS system linked to the alert system. According to our information, which has been confirmed by an official announcement from SDIS 52, no fewer than 145 units have been ordered.
Following several months of testing (since October 2017), notably at the Chaumont emergency services centre, this GPS system is to be rolled out across the board. Connected to the CTA-CODIS operational management system, it receives all sorts of information useful for the smooth running of operations, enabling it, for example, to automatically start navigation to the incident location as soon as the vehicle sets off.

It allows you to send short, pre-defined messages to inform the operations centre, much like the Antares handheld radios. "Thanks to the work of our cartographers, firefighters can view all sorts of information on their GPS map that is useful during operations, such as fire hydrants and fire hydrant posts near the vehicle", adds the communications department.
It will no doubt be useful to Civil Protection and SAMU helicopters for reporting the geographical coordinates of the incident location by radio. The cost of the operation is not known to our editorial team.
