Will firefighters soon be equipped with cameras? That, at any rate, is what Jean-Pierre Decool, a senator from the Nord department, would like to see.
The Flemish politician has just seen one of his proposals approved by the Senate’s Legal Affairs Committee, to extend the use of body-worn cameras to firefighters and prison officers, in order to "film in the event of an attack".
Following a trial period, this system will be used by the police from 2019 onwards. The proposal will be considered by senators this Wednesday, before going before the National Assembly.
