According to our sources, Gérard Collomb, Minister of State and Minister for the Interior, has welcomed the arrests of two individuals suspected of planning a terrorist attack, which took place on Saturday 9 June in Seine-et-Marne.
During 2018, the DGSI had detected activity on social media by an account operating within the radical Islamist sphere. Surveillance operations by the intelligence services identified a possible plan to carry out an attack, leading to their arrest.
"Preventative" arrests
During the searches, bladed weapons and materials that could be used to make an explosive device were discovered, along with numerous items of Islamist propaganda. The two men were charged and remanded in custody following their police custody.
Gérard Collomb “welcomes these preventive arrests, carried out within a judicial framework on the basis of evidence gathered by our intelligence services as part of their active monitoring of social media. “This is the fifth time this year that such a preventative measure has succeeded in foiling a planned act of violence.”
This is the fifth attack to have been foiled since the start of the year. The threat remains high and our intelligence services are operating at full capacity.
