An emergency and victim support vehicle was hit on Sunday shortly before 9 am, according to a report from our colleagues at Ouest-France. The incident took place outside the fire station at the Palais Saint-Georges in Rennes. "The ambulance was returning from a call-out with three firefighters on board", says a commander.
It collided with a Citroën car travelling in the opposite direction. The ambulance crashed into a post, whilst the other vehicle crashed into the fire station’s gate.
The barracks were blocked for 40 minutes
The driver of the car was taken to hospital and the three firefighters were examined at the scene. The police have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances of this accident.
According to the same source, the emergency services centre was blocked for nearly an hour as a result of the accident. "No vehicles were allowed to enter or leave" explains the commander. "The other two emergency centres in Rennes have taken over".
