Firefighters from the Lot are taking part in the ‘No Man’s Raid 2018’

Two crews from the Lot Fire Service will be taking part in the NO MAN’S RAID 2018 from 8 to 14 July, the first 100 per cent all-female 4L car rally in aid of gender equality and the fight against violence against women. The two crews taking part in this journey were present on Wednesday 27 June 2018 at 4.00 pm at the Lot Departmental Directorate of Fire and Rescue Services in Cahors to thank their fire service partners. Indeed, the Lot Departmental Firefighters’ Union, a sponsor of this initiative, funded a ‘visual’ display space on each vehicle. For its part, the Lot Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) provided the crews with an ‘upgraded’ first-aid kit and a car fire extinguisher. The event took place in the presence of Ms Véronique Chassain, First Vice-President of CASDIS, Colonel (Honorary Rank) Bernard Tachet des Combes, Director of the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service, and Senior Health Officer Commander Michel Taillade, Vice-President of the Lot Departmental Firefighters’ Union, that the two crews explained the reasons for their participation in this rally and presented their vehicles. The ‘TIC TAC RAID’ team, comprising midwife Véronique Rougerie and firefighter Audrey Pereira from the Saint-Céré Fire and Rescue Service (CIS), and the ‘LE RAID DES FÉES NO MEN’ team, comprising pharmacist Laurence Lacaton and midwifeCécile Authier Martin from the Bretenoux Fire and Rescue Service, appeared highly motivated to undertake this rally, which runs from Bourg-Saint-Maurice (73) to Menton (06) along tracks and secondary roads, covering a distance of nearly 800 km in six stages. This commitment was praised by Ms Chassain in her capacity as an elected representative and, above all, “as a woman”, takes on its full significance when one realises that the issue of violence against women is fully integrated into the refresher training courses on emergency medical assistance provided to firefighters in the Lot department.
