Paris: massive fire at the new judicial complex

A minor fire, but a major response. Firefighters are hard at work at the new Batignolles judicial complex (17th arrondissement). A fire broke out on the terrace on the 24th floor of this newly built courthouse, which has just been completed at Porte de Clichy, replacing the now-vacant Palais de l’Île de la Cité (4th arrondissement). Thick white smoke was billowing from the glass building in the middle of the afternoon, visible throughout the neighbourhood and from the northern ring road. By around 4 pm, the situation was under control. According to a source close to the matter, the fire may have been caused by a fire in an electrical cabinet.
