An armed gang attacked Réau prison (Seine-et-Marne) on Sunday morning at around 11.15 am, according to the website Actu17.fr. The attackers, who were armed with rifles, helped Rédoine Faïd – who had been convicted on several occasions for armed robbery – to escape.

According to our information, a helicopter is believed to have been used in the attack and the escape. Rédoine Faïd had previously escaped from Sequedin prison in 2013, taking prison officers hostage.

On 14 March, he was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment by the Assize Court of the Nord for these offences.
