Universcience is proud to be partnering with the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP) as part of the ‘FEU’ exhibition, which has been on display since 10 April and will run until 6 January 2019 at the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie. To mark the occasion, a unique weekend of events with the firefighters is on offer to the public! On the evening of 14 July, the building will be decked out in tricolour decorations to host a free firefighters’ ball, in a festive, family-friendly atmosphere. The day of 15 July, meanwhile, is dedicated to discovering the fire service’s various roles through a range of workshops and spectacular demonstrations.
The Firefighters’ Ball
For the first time, the official ball of Paris’s 19th arrondissement is being held at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie on Saturday 14 July from 9 pm to 4 am, to celebrate the national holiday. This traditional event has been held every year since 1937 and undeniably helps to strengthen the bond between the fire brigade and the local community. In a lively, festive atmosphere, visitors will have the chance to watch a gymnastics display by the Paris Fire Brigade and dance the night away in the building decked out in the colours of the French flag! Free entry.
Firefighters, to the fire!
On Sunday 15 July, from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm, the fire brigade is inviting everyone to discover the expertise of Europe’s largest emergency service through a range of workshops and demonstrations. On the programme: setting up a fire hose, a ‘young firefighters’ obstacle course, climbing a ladder, practising first aid, and meeting the most experienced specialists from the BSPP. And… the icing on the cake: a parade of firefighters in their various uniforms, a stretcher rescue demonstration, and a treasure hunt for the youngest visitors.
Admission is charged at the Explora rate €12, reduced rate: €9 (over-65s, teachers, under-25s, large families and students).
