"Is there an age for playing? Is there an age for saving lives? Which one of you will be the best first-aider?" These are the first questions posed by Patrice Jupille, a firefighter who initiated this project.
Making life-saving techniques fun and accessible to everyone is no easy task, yet a few fairly simple steps can help save lives. A firefighter for over 20 years and a trainer, Patrice Jupille wanted to put his skills and passion for training at the service of everyone, young and old alike.
"That is what I have set out to do, by trying to make the training fun and accessible to everyone, across all generations, whilst drawing on the official first-aid guidelines (PSC1)" he explains.
A hit even before its release
Although it hasn’t even been launched yet, Secouriste is already proving a huge success – and with good reason: its crowdfunding campaign has exceeded all expectations, having reached its target of €10,000. On Wednesday morning, the total raised stood at €22,445 – 224 per cent of the initial target. An undeniable success!
"This project began two years ago and, after extensive testing, I can assure you that whether you’re a group of friends, brothers, sisters (or both), parents, friends, colleagues, activity leaders, trainers, keen players or casual players, schoolteachers or primary school teachers, volunteer or professional first-aiders aged between 7 and 77 (and over), you’ll have a great time without ever knowing in advance which of you two will win." the designer explains.
He added, "Once you have the game and its guide (included in the box), you’ll be able to (re)discover life-saving techniques and/or raise awareness amongst your family, friends, colleagues and classmates, whilst having loads of fun! Playing helps us to grow, enrich ourselves, deepen our understanding of ourselves and others, and forge and strengthen social and intergenerational bonds. The game also allows us to express our personal strengths in an environment where everyone starts on an equal footing – which isn’t the case in real life.".
