A 28-year-old marine firefighter from Marseille, who was returning from a jet-ski trip, was attacked by four aggressive individuals last Wednesday at around 6 pm in Port-Fréjus.
According to our colleagues at Nice Matin, it was only after they had hurled abuse at him that they began to turn violent, and one of them kicked the young firefighter whilst threatening him with a box cutter. The soldier was given a five-day sick note.
Arrested and taken into police custody
From the same source, "The victim managed to free himself from the trap that had been set and set off running at full speed... before coming face to face with a Fréjus municipal police car".
All aged between 18 and 19 and known to the police for previous offences, they were arrested and taken into police custody. They will have to answer for their actions before the Draguignan court on charges of group violence and threatening behaviour with a weapon.
