Yvelines: Knife attack in Trappes

At 10.00 this morning, a man attacked passers-by with a knife in the town centre of Trappes (78) before taking refuge in a house; he then emerged to face the police, shouting “Allahu Akbar”. The toll from this attack is two dead (the attacker’s mother and sister) and one person in critical condition. The police were forced to use their weapons to neutralise the attacker, who was on the ‘S’ list and known for glorifying terrorism; he has died. The Prefect of Yvelines has confirmed that the RAID special forces unit was not deployed. The counter-terrorism unit is not currently leading the investigation. The Minister of the Interior, Gérard Collomb, and the Public Prosecutor, François Molins, are travelling to the scene.
