According to a report by Radio Mont Blanc, a major fire broke out on Tuesday in a building at the midway station of the Grands Montets cable car in Chamonix.
Work carried out recently in the loft is believed to have caused the fire. According to the same source, the station was closed to the public at the time of the incident and the roof was completely engulfed in flames, requiring the deployment of a water-bombing helicopter.
Around 50 firefighters have been deployed to the scene. There have been no casualties.
