Albi: policewoman fatally struck by a vehicle

A policewoman lost her life on Monday morning in a tragic accident on the Albi ring road in the Tarn, according to a police spokesperson quoted by our colleagues at France 3. The policewoman was on duty at around 6 am, directing traffic following a minor collision on the ring road near the Stadium. The accident had caused a traffic jam. It was then that a vehicle approached at high speed; the driver swerved but was unable to avoid the policewoman, who was fatally struck. According to a trade union source, officers at Albi police station are deeply shocked. The ring road was closed to traffic to allow the emergency services to attend the scene.
