Christophe Castaner has been appointed Minister of the Interior.

Christophe Castaner, born on 3 January 1966 in Ollioules, is a French lawyer and politician. A Member of Parliament for the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence constituency and the Socialist Party’s lead candidate in the 2015 regional elections in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, he joined Emmanuel Macron’s En Marche! movement in 2016. He served as Emmanuel Macron’s spokesperson during the campaign for the 2017 presidential election. On 17 May 2017, he became Secretary of State for Relations with Parliament and government spokesperson under Édouard Philippe; he retained these roles in the Philippe II government (serving as government spokesperson until 24 November 2017). Since 18 November 2017, he has been General Delegate of La République en Marche.
