100 Paris firefighters were called out to a fire in a residential block on Thursday evening in Bobigny (93).
According to a report by BFM Paris, two girls aged 3 and 7, as well as two adults, have died.
Three other people, suffering from burns and smoke inhalation, have been admitted to hospital in critical condition. Two others are in a serious condition.
The fire broke out in a 100-square-metre flat on the first floor and then spread horizontally.
A sports hall has been opened to provide temporary accommodation for those affected.
A counselling service has also been set up.
