- stop the bleeding immediately;
- apply a pressure dressing, using a dressing soaked in a haemostatic agent if necessary, to the stump even if there is no bleeding;
- complete the critical emergency assessment, if necessary;
- to combat circulatory problems;
- carry out a further assessment to look for any other signs or injuries and provide the necessary first aid;
- seek medical advice by forwarding the test results;
- to dress the severed limb;
- keep an eye on the victim.
