Ain: firefighters have not received any call-outs since September

This is an ongoing technical problem for the mayor of Chaneins, a small commune in the Ain department. Since September, the village’s fire brigade has not been alerted to any call-outs they receive. The mayor is concerned for the safety of his residents.

According to our information, the transmitter used to trigger the emergency response and the siren is no longer operational. A request to transfer the line has been made, but to no avail. We are still awaiting a response from the operator.

A fear of "demobilisation"

The mayor, the municipality’s chief executive, states that, "a number of operations could not be carried out" and fears "a demobilisation" of its volunteers.

Unlike most fire stations, this is a non-integrated first-response centre (CPI); in other words, it is not part of the departmental fire and rescue service, but is run by the local council.
