Renaud Blanc, Stéphane and Dominique Burel. These three former firefighters have embarked on a long battle: to expose incidents of harassment within their fire station. The alleged incidents began in 2001, with the suicide of a volunteer firefighter, and continued until 2006. In the meantime, three further suicide attempts were recorded. The last one proved to be the last straw for the three complainants. They have lodged a complaint against their station commander.
The trial of the former head of the Bolbec (Seine-Maritime) fire station is due to take place at Le Havre Criminal Court next Monday. The events in question took place 13 years ago.
The Rouen Court of Appeal dismissed the case, but the ruling was quashed by the Court of Cassation on 28 January 2014.
The Relocated Case
The case has been referred to the Investigating Chamber of the Caen Court of Appeal (Calvados).
Following a further investigation and the formal charging of the suspect, the Caen Court of Appeal ordered on 28 March 2017 that the former head of the Bolbec centre be brought to trial. The trial will take place next Monday at 1.30 pm at the Le Havre Criminal Court.
