Four marine firefighters from Marseille flew to Africa on Sunday to help set up a civilian fire service in Côte d’Ivoire.

Acting as experts, on behalf of the association "Massilia Firefighters of the World Adventurers", the aim of this three-year mission – running from 2016 to 2019 – is to train the 1,330 members of this corps.

“Over the course of the three-week mission, 60 future team leaders will be trained. The BMPMonde association (Baroudeurs Massilia Pompiers du monde) has accumulated no fewer than years of overseas operations since 1999, thanks to the work of 60 volunteers. It also represents thousands of hours of training and thousands of items of PPE (personal protective equipment) delivered around the world to firefighters who have limited access to such resources,” explain the Marseille maritime firefighters.
